A Good Quote

"I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."

BBC Survivors

This programme (a 70's remake) was on BBC one a couple of years ago and showed the possible outcome of a virus which wiped out 90% of the human population. I found this show very interesting, it concentrated on how normal people would cope in such an extreme situation. I like the idea of playing a 'survivor' in my solo piece, but I would rather explore the idea of the extremes of war, and what that could do to civilisation as we know it today.

Survival

I have been thinking about extreme reasons why one person would feel the need to force someone into doing something (against their will). I think that only in extreme circumstances should people be forced into doing something out of the norm, especially something which may pose as a danger. I think the army would be a good example of this. A man or woman would only join the army if they felt the need to protect or defend their family and country, in order for all to survive. But the whole world seems to revolve around wars, which means the whole world cannot survive, something has to give.
I think it would be interesting to look into possible post-war situations as stimulus for my solo, and I often wonder - what might happen to us in the future? As a race, will we survive?
